Who is this guy?

Simply put, I am a superhero.  Yes, so now you think I am also a crazy whacko.  That’s fair, but hear me out for a bit and let me spit you some facts (pun 100% intended)…

Although largely preventable, dental decay and periodontal disease are two of the most common chronic diseases threatening our health today. Dental decay is the most common chronic disease in children aged 6-11 and adolescents aged 12-19. According to the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, dental decay is five times more common than asthma, four times more common than early childhood obesity, and twenty times more common than diabetes. For adults, it is estimated nine out of ten age 20 and older have some form of tooth and/or root decay (look left, look right…odds are someone near you right now has decay in their mouth).

What about grandma and grandpa?

Yep, roughly 25% of adults aged 65 and older have lost all of their teeth due to untreated oral diseases. These are some of the statistics facing all of us day in and day out.  As a dentist it is up to me to educate my patients on ways to prevent these issues through daily care at home.  I believe dentists in today’s world need to be more prevention oriented.  Instead of simply treating issues when they arise, we need to leverage our advancements in oral healthcare in efforts to prevent more and treat less.  So humor me for a minute and concede that I am sort of a superhero, fighting one of the most prevalent diseases known to mankind every day.

Why is he here in North Liberty?

North Liberty is an amazing community.  If you do not know that, then you may be living under a rock.  It has an undeniable amount of refreshing excitement and energy that can be felt daily and I love it!  Plus, let’s toot our own horn just because… A 2017 LendEDU poll ranked North Liberty the most educated city in the Midwest, and the 9th most educated city in the United States.  Dang, who wouldn’t want to be a part of that community?!  I know I do, and I personally couldn’t be more excited to serve the North Liberty community and surrounding areas in the corridor.

What is he all about?

I will be the first to say I am an average guy that lives an average life (minus being a superhero of course).  But I honestly love what I do, and that is becoming more and more of a rarity.  Teeth are incredible, and their inherent intricacies are proof of a Creator with a genius design.  Understanding how they function and replicating that throughout all of my treatments is fundamental to the Biomimetic Approach I was trained in. I love finding new ways to treat any case, to solve various problems, and I’m always looking for a way to leverage technology to help my patients.  Technology is advancing around all of us at the speed of light, and if you haven’t noticed then you’re most likely under a rock next to the guy that doesn’t understand how amazing North Liberty is.  In dentistry technology is advancing just as fast.  Blending that with engineering and art is where the true beauty in dentistry can be found.  Didn’t you know that is how we got the title dentist?  A combination of the words doctor, engineer, and artist…DENTIST.  Ok, lame joke I know but every dentist uses it at some point.  In all honesty, I couldn’t love dentistry more and I can’t wait to serve the corridor.  Stop into our office sometime, and you’ll see just how cool teeth actually are!

I had my first exposure to a Biological Dentist , Dr. Cody. He identified my beginning stages of Periodontal Disease that a regular dentist missed. The Ozone dental hygiene cleaning was amazing. Your teeth deserve treatment at Viosdental.
