Did you know that your best chance for longevity and whole health lies in two simple things: What you put in and on your body!
It’s not always common knowledge that things like clothes, sunscreens, certain foods, and even ‘natural colors and flavors’ can be toxic to you and your loved ones’ health. Materials used in dental treatments are no different and can have serious repercussions on your health.
Take for example, a first hand patient testimony. Jane had always wondered why her mouth felt irritated and sore. After Dr. Kriegel asked her about any metal allergies during her new patient consultation, Jane revealed her history of reacting to cheap jewelry, and a lightbulb went off! After careful examination, it became evident that Jane’s metal allergy extended to the dental implants and amalgam fillings in her mouth. With great relief, Jane decided to have everything safely removed, and her discomfort vanished, giving her a newfound sense of freedom and oral comfort she had never experienced before.
This is just one example of why it is vital to access the WHOLE body.
So what does it mean to use biocompatible materials?
1. They’re BPA free
BPA stands for Bisphenol A, which is a chemical compound commonly used in the production of plastics and resins, including many dental fillings! BPA has been found to mimic the hormone estrogen in the body. It can interfere with the normal function of the endocrine system, which regulates various biological processes, including growth, metabolism, and reproduction.
2. They’re metal free
Metal, whether it’s gold, silver, nickel, or a combination (called amalgam) does not belong in the mouth. Not only is our office metal free, we are also metal safe (meaning we take extreme precautions when removing metal).
3. They’re fluoride free
Fluoride is a chemical compound that is commonly added to drinking water and dental products, such as toothpaste and mouthwash. There are many reasons we steer clear of fluoride including, dental fluorosis, skeleton fluorosis, thyroid dysfunction, neurological effects, and developmental complications in children.
